This is my current commute:<\/p>\n<p><code>HOME &gt; Car (10m) &gt; Train (20m) &gt; Walk (15m) &gt; Train (40m) &gt; Walk (10m) &gt; WORK<\/code><\/p>\n<p>One of my personal goals is to be car\/petrol free. Using a car to do the famous &#8220;last mile&#8221; deeply annoys me. It&#8217;s too short for a car trip, but it takes too long if I walk it instead. That got me started thinking about alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>I could replace the car with a bicycle, however the path is not flat so there would be some effort\/sweat involved. All except one required international shipping <code>#PortugalXXI<\/code> <code>#2ndWorldProblems<\/code>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>International Shipping<\/strong>. Magically turns something locally affordable into a luxury abroad. Also you can&#8217;t try it before buying and if you regret your purchase, tough luck.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; Urban Dictionary<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The results<\/h3>\n<p>The greener the better. However it&#8217;s by far the most popular electric scooter, it&#8217;s the only model I&#8217;ve seen in the streets so far.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The regrets<\/h3>\n<p>It was a hard choice. This was my first (electric) scooter, so I decided to play it safe and buy <strong>UrbanGlide Ride 50S Carbon<\/strong>, the cheapest and the only one available locally.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.diogonunes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/5-760x450.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.diogonunes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/5-760x450.jpg?resize=580%2C390&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"390\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.diogonunes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/5-760x450.jpg?w=669&amp;ssl=1 669w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.diogonunes.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/5-760x450.jpg?resize=400%2C269&amp;ssl=1 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>I asked for a refund 48h later.<\/strong> Let me tell you why it sucked so bad:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uncomfortable: knee &amp; wrist pain after one trip (due to lack of suspension)<\/li>\n<li>Weak engine: normal 6km\/h, max speed 18km\/h (lower than specs)<\/li>\n<li>Weak battery: reached 60% at 4km (half the specs)<\/li>\n<li>Hand grips unscrew themselves during trip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The conclusion<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>No easy way to safely lock it; your arms will get tired of carrying it<\/li>\n<li>Cheap is good for flat paths and good quality pavement (not the case in \ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddf9)<\/li>\n<li>Otherwise go for power and suspension (which compromises portability)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I decided to use a bicycle<\/strong> downhill and carry it when returning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Benchmark of three models (prices: 200-800\u20ac)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":3293,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[28,22,68],"class_list":["post-3269","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-life","tag-minimalism","tag-review","tag-sustainability"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
